the other me

Darkness

When darkness arrives
Everything comes alive
Night sighs with fear
Ghosts shriek with a hint of laughter,
Hold the blanket tight
See your shadow is coming alive.

The brisk breeze,
Frisks you inside
All this while,
Your frightened eyes
Searching for light
In the most scary part of night

Beware my friend
Don’t open that door
Can’t you see the lock so old?
The look so worn & torn
With the secrets it may withhold

Don’t look up now
Someone’s coming
You can’t see but can you hear?
 That quick, ghostly walk
Instills the fear

Go to your room
Shut those eyes
The sun has set
And the darkness is alive.
